While it all comes down to the best teams at the end of the year, not at the end of the month, some say that if you want to know which college team to bet on in December, then the initial College Football Playoff rankings at the end of October hold true when all is said and done.
“…when you go beyond the differing methodologies and take a look at recent history, the broader message is this: At least half the teams identified as the best in October end up being the best in December.”
Others disagree on the basis that initial rankings do little more than create talking points for sportscasters and pre-game shows.
